Cardiff By The Sea Real Estate

Cardiff by the Sea is a community of approximately 17,500 residents, located 25 miles north of Downtown San Diego and just west of Interstate 5. Real estate is at a premium here, with many of the hillside properties offering spectacular Pacific Ocean views.Founded in 1911 by developer J. Frank Cullen, the community was named in honor of his wife's native Wales and many streets have English names. A later developer, German musician Victor Kramer added the "by-the-Sea."

Most of its residents occupy the quaint homes which cover the hillside and offer spectacular views of the Pacific. Visitors enjoy bird watching and hiking along the trails in the San Elijo Lagoon, and running and biking along the beachside highway is popular among both amateur and professional athletes throughout San Diego County.

The community takes pride in its "walkability" with the beach, lagoon, restaurants, markets, post office, library and other commercial services in easy walking distance to each other.

Cardiff's Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church hosts an elaborate Greek Festival every September.
