Scripps Ranch Real Estate

Originally founded in the 1890s by E.W. Scripps as a health spa, Scripps Ranch is a centrally located community within the City of San Diego. Nestled among acres of forested rolling hills, scenic countryside views as well as views of Lake Miramar give Scripps Ranch its secluded country atmosphere while being only a 20 minute drive from Downtown.

Scripps began building the home he called Miramar and completed construction of the adobe wing in 1898.  He named the house for Archduke Maximillian's castle in Trieste, Italy and patterned it after the architecture of North Africa.  It became his permanent home until 1917.Today, the community, located east of I-15, is a tree-lined collection of broad streets lined with middle and upper middle-class homes.  Much of the open area is set aside for recreation and as nature preserves.

The area attracts young families because of its small town ambiance, and its excellent schools. Soccer is a popular sport. The area surrounds Miramar Lake which offers hiking trails and fishing.

The Scripps Ranch Business Park houses large companies like Geico and smaller product and service-oriented companies.  It provides employment to local residents.  Shopping and other services are centrally located.  There are numerous activities for residents of all ages.
